Grass Roots needs you.

If you've landed on this page, you're early. Everything you can click on this site works: the Studio designs real courses, teachers publish them, students reserve spots and message teachers. But the site is a demonstration of something much bigger, and the honest truth is that the bigger thing is still a vision.

This page is that vision, written down plainly. If any part of it makes your heart beat faster, we want to hear from you.

The problem we can't stop thinking about

Across Europe and beyond, living landscapes are doing the work we urgently need: restoring soils, water systems, biodiversity, and local resilience. But less than 1% of landscape finance reaches the people doing it, and it takes years before a young landscape can sustain the community behind it.

Meanwhile, the skills these places run on, natural building, agroforestry, water work, fermentation, animal husbandry, are vanishing from mainstream education just as the demand for them returns.

Grass Roots exists to connect those two facts: learning as an income stream for restoration, and land as the classroom for the skills of the future.

A studio that designs real courses

A teacher brings a skill, and the Residency Studio designs a complete course around a landscape's real projects in about a minute: schedule, outcomes, fair pricing, even the message to the host. Editable in plain language, publishable as a live listing. This part is not a vision. You can use it right now.

Tools for every landscape

Most farms, eco-villages, and building schools already have an audience, and hold their courses together with scattered forms and bank transfers. We want to hand every landscape fair, beautiful tools to design, publish, and fill their own programs, with the marketplace as the commons that grows out of it.

A regenerative skills passport

Every course you complete becomes a verified, teacher-signed badge you carry with you: proof you can raise a cob wall, keep bees, read water on a slope. Over time, a recognised credential for crafts that mainstream education stopped certifying.

Courses as restoration finance

A course is a fundable unit. One sponsorship pays a teacher a living wage, trains a dozen people, and leaves swales, hedgerows, or a bread oven on land that needs them. We want foundations and businesses to fund restoration by funding learning, and see exactly what their money built.

Learning journeys

Gap semesters across three or four landscapes. Team retreats that build something real together. University field programs on living land. Structured journeys that bring new people, and steady income, into the network.

From learning to stewardship

The average European farmer is 57, and the next generation can't access land. Residencies can become apprenticeships, and apprenticeships can become succession. Grass Roots as a front door not just to a course, but to a life on the land.

Built by ten thousand hands

Every course leaves something behind: an oven, a cabin, a swale, a young food forest. We want to map every artifact this community builds, gather once a year to transform one site in a week, and tell that story as it grows.

Grass Roots is being built to be steward-owned: profits after fair wages reinvested into landscapes and offerings, with the people who teach, host, and learn holding real ownership. Not as charity, as strategy. A platform nobody needs to escape is a platform that lasts.
